Officers are covered by the Federal Way Police Officers Guild.  Membership is a encouraged within 30 days of employment.

Officers have 5 steps of pay.  Where you start will depend on your experience (Lateral Only)

Other contributors to base pay:

*Career Development (up to) 6.25% additional (after 5 years of qualifying Law Enforcement Experience)

$200 yearly credit towards police related equipment (along with quartermaster system)

AA Degree 2%

Bachelor’s Degree 4%

City Residency 1% (includes Take-home car in potential annexation area)

Take Home Cars being implemented (within 25 miles driving from city hall) NEW!

On Call Pay 3% (Detectives, SWAT, MAIT, Total Station, K9)

FTO Pay 7% (with Student)

Out of Class 7% (hours spent)

$7500 will be paid in three equal installments of $2500;  

1. Upon Meeting requirements for Equivalency Academy (Medical clearance and Firearms Qualification)

2. Passing 6 month probation

3. 1 year anniversary

*Leave bonus awarded upon successful completion of the Field Training Program
